Headed out of Ventura harbor at 6 am with Brian and Wayne on Wayne's killer Wilson. The weather was a bit lumpy on the way out to Santa Cruz but we made 20 knts with not much problem.

Once we got there we fished around the birds working the bait off the kelp and bam I'm on. One run later he was at the boat. Shortly after Wayne was on fishing the dropper loop.

We fished that area for a while and picked up one more wsb and a nice cuda on the iron.
As the bite was dyeing off a friend of mine was fishing on his boat in tight and his batteries were dead. Lucky for them we were close by and got them out of there before it got any worse. I don't even think his windlass would move to get his anchor down without any power or tools on the boat.

Shortly after that we did some halibut drifts. It was slow and boring but we ended up with on that was 14 pounds.

Fished the kelp for a while for a few bass and thought we would give it another try where we got the sea bass in the morning. We fished the incoming tide and got three more. One going 40 pounds. And that was it before the wind and current switched on us making it difficult to fish.
