Bait for catfish

I am going to take an elderly friend of mine fishing at Alondra Park where I have seen the fishermen snare a lot of catfish.

I think the pond is pretty shallow...what type of bait and rig would you recommend using? :Big Grin:

Also there are a lot of geese and ducks.... in the pond.

i used to carolina rig full head on shrimp and it was always a guarenteed winner if they're biting

or 1/4 hotdogs on treble hooks sprayed with "Blood" scent from wal-mart.

yeah carolina is the way to go with mackrel bait..they do have this weird fish in there though, some say it's a gahr or sturgeon???about three big ones swimming in there..
