Well lets start off by saying this wasnt a great fish catching trip. I did however have a couple interesting experiences and took a bunch of pictures of the beautiful Sierras.
Are you ready? Let's go!!!The next pic is the Patriot half way there.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/boathalfway.jpg
Then we actually made it to our place. The Boulder Lodge in June Lake.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/boatthere.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/boatthere2.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/arrive1.jpg

We decided to leave the Tracker in the water overnite at a slip . It was 15 bucksto do so. Theslips are padded and nice. Here are some pics of the June Marina.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junmarina.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junedocks.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junboatberth.jpg

Check out how many rentals!!! Over 100 in cluding pontoons.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junrentals.jpg

So we got the Patriot wet around 2 pm and trolled awhile...
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/juncaptroll.jpg
My dad at the controls....
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junedadtroll.jpg

Following are some pics ofthe Boulder Lodge. This place is reasonably priced and easy inand out with the boat.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/lodgepic.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/troljune.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/juntrees.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junfrmroom.jpg
What happens in June ...stays in June...lol
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/june107.jpg

Heres a pic of the lodge from the lake as we were trolling..
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junlodgelak.jpg

We trolled the first half day and managed just one fish...we were using EVERYTHING. Dave Davis w/ N/C...NEEDLEFISH of assorted colors.... T. Bouyants...PHEBOES...It sucked real bad as far as the action. The heat was a factor and the thermalcline was yet to be found....
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junecapfishn.jpg

Heres thelone fish of the day..I believe a Cutthroat....
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junecut.jpg

We then called it a day to eat at the Tiger bar..and drink as well!!We decided to try it in the morning...
You have heard of morning wood??!!! right...well here is morning glass!
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junearlygls.jpg

We got tired of listening to the motor purring around so we decided to try and play with some truck trout. We found a spot near the shore of the lodge and began to cast EVERYTHING at them...bty this time my dad had "C & R'D" a few fish without actually LANDING them. He says it's more challengeing that way ...lol We were fishing a while and he says" I got a nice one on!" So I'm stoked and I look over to see him BENDO!!!..i SCURRY OVER TO THE BOW AND JUST THEN spit!!!! His lure comes free AGAIN!!But WAIT!! What IS that on his lure???? LOOK and SEE!

http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/junefisheye.jpg

NASTY!!!! I told him that the fish had his eye on him!!! lol

We decide to ditch the boat and go looking around. We stopped at Silver first.
Silver Lake
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/slverlk.jpg
Dad and I at Siver Lake...we ran into a nice fella from Seal Beach there..he took this..
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/slverdadme.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/sivermt.jpg

Ok what happened next was CRAZY....I wanted to find a spot to throw a few back and discuss WORLD POLITICS...so we pulled over the truck and started down a path to the shore. When we were getting close I jokingly pointed at the ground and said "Look paw prints" There were some wet spot in the dusty trail but nothing to worry about...yet. He laughed it off too and we continued to the waters edge. I was in front of him and as I got closer I see MORE tracks that are really wet still. It was 85 degrees so these are recent...Then I see a bathtub size pool of water on the dirt..like something was in the water and then came out and laid down or shook off. Nowmy heart was thumping. Then I noticed HUGE paw prints and wetter ones too!!!! I said HOLY CRAP look at that...They sorta went off down the path along the shore....Now I'm totally freaking but still stupid enough to continue to look... So I take a few more steps following the tracks and then just stopped and followed them with my eyes up the path. It was really thick with trees and such and then I noticed a LARGE black mass inside the trees about 100 feet away sorta meandering around!!! Sodo you think I stood my ground like a man?!?!? Hell NO!! Itook off running and yelling like a little school girl screaming BEAR! BEAR! BEAR! as I flew past my dad and up the trail to the truck!!! Holy crap Iwas scared. NOW my dad relizes the seriousness and we both got the hell outa there!!!! lol CLOSE ONE!!!
We stopped at Gull Lake.
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/gulmarina.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/gulmarina2.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/gulmarina3.JPG

The ramp was crummy there so we didnt put the Tracker out.Water levels are down. We took a few more pics and we were off to Grant Lake.
No this isnt the bear I saw!!!lol
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/gullbear.jpg

Dad made me stop so he could check out the menu at this restaurant..
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/dadishungry.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/foodsign.jpg

We found a shore spot to fish so we hiked down to the water...this is Grant Lake
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/grandodge.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/granlake.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/granlakeview.jpg
The place was blown out ...no boats out there..
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/granmarina.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/grantmarinaa.jpg

I hooked a nice little stocker on PB and put it on the stringer!!! Cool no skunk!

http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/granfish.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/grantfishst.jpg

I took a walk around the point to check things out and when I came back I see this..
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/granfishgone.jpg

So either this sucker pulled a Cris Angel on me or the birds must of got them!!! They were nearby...
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/granbirds.jpg
So I ask my dad ..." Hey what the hell happened...wheres my fish?!"
And he gave me a look like this..
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/grandadpissed.jpg

Too funny...he then lectured me on staying by my pole!!! Actually I think the birds did get it and he didnt know cause he was always tangled and doing this...
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/dadtangles.jpg
Saw this guy fishing...now thats what its all about!
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/nicevaca.jpg

So on one of our trips thru the loop we hit traffic...Traffic? Yea stopped. I then see dust getting kicked up and this is what we see...
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/hoorse1.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/hoorse2.jpg
They were driving about 70 mules thru the town to a pack station...Wild but really neat to see...

On Wednesday we headed to Convict to troll a bit there...
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/convtrakin.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/conmarina.jpg
http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/convcaptroll.jpg

http://fishingnetwork.net/images/tmp2/controll.jpg
Convict was way hot and slowas well. I short hooked one and that was it. A beautiful place tho. We only stayed about 3 hours...
The following are pics of the area...

June has always been a favorite or mine. Did 30+ openers there in my better days.

Did you catch the Carson Peak Inn? They've been great for nearly 40 years (at least as far back as I go).

Hey billy b....no actually they dont open til 5pmfor dinner so we went down the road and found this Spa/Resort/Restaurant called the Double Eagle...man wasthat place awesome!!!I totally recommend it and the prices were lower then the Tiger Bar in town and the food was by far way better. The Tiger bar is fgreat for drinks and lunch type stuff. Its really a greasy food place. They have some decent sandwihes but I prefer the Double Eagle....

Great report and pics. I love the June Lake loop area. One year when I was up at Silver, the fish and game guys were trying to get a bear cub out of a tree close to the cabins where the rental boats are. Totally cool thing to watch. Thanks for the report.

Check this out folks
http://www.doubleeagle.com/

I stayed there the last time I was in June. Will hit the restaurant the next time .... had to do Carson Peak because we ate there on our honeymoon.

They have a little lake with some NICE fish in it ... makes your blood boil....you can get fly casting lessons there BTW. Cabins are all nicely furnished and decorated with all the things your wife would pick out in the furniture stores. Large Jacuzzi tubs for you couples

Captain, the photos are breathtaking. Now that I've stopped druling. Wow what a fantastic report.

Just curious, what were the water temps like up there.

You look like a very happy man in that boat! I knew when you got her that you'd be really digging it bigtime.

Good fishing to ya, later........... geobasss

To stay away from gas prices like that, you should do all your topping off/filling up at the Paiute Palace Casino gas station in Bishop.

Great report and picks.
