Well....I finally bought myself ANOTHER digital camera after toasting my SECOND one in the surf and I had to test it out. I had a few hours before I had to meet with a few clients and I decided I would hit up the rocks for a quicky. When I arrived the conditions were not so favorable. Cloudy .....Cold and a steady 8 to 10 out of the west. Usually the wind in this spot doesn't come up until noon or so but it was 9am and it was already wind chopped. I really dislike dropshotting in the wind but what the hell. So I armed myself with my White ice superfluke and smelly jelly and increased my weight to fight the wind. One cast to the same spot that Flyngby got his first fish on wednesday and Wham....Fish on!
So a shortie hits the rocks at 21 1/2" but it was a nice start. Over the next 45 minutes I stuck another two that were clones of the first and missed many more rat taps (Probably croakers).

Now that I look at the tape on the third shortie it might have went just at the 22" mark but the tape is kinda curled.

A few minutes later I feel that tell tale thump again and I dip my rod tip....wait for it to load up and wham......Fish on!! and I can tell this is a slightly larger model.
She taped out at about 25" (damn curly tape!)

About 15 minutes later I heard a voice over my shoulder say "There is someone here"
I look over my shoulder and see a guy heading down the rocks towards me and he askes how I'm doing. I told him ok and he askes me if I've had any luck. I promptly reply "Just three shorties". I don't know why but I asked him if he has heard of the FNN and he told me that he was a member. He goes by Got to Fish (forgive me if I got it wrong dude) because I'm a little brain dead today...LOL
So...We start to BS and fish when I get hit again. Once again I can tell this is a larger model and when I get her close my new fishing partner for the next hour was so kind to rock hop and save me the hassle of the lipgripper and he tailgrabs her for me. Thanks bro.....That was very kind of you.
So we lay her out quickly and tape her out at a solid 26 1/2"

Back in the drink she goes and I'm running out of fishing time!
So I have my bluetooth on and TECHNIQUELY I'm working when I get a call from my sales manager with a serious customer problem so I take about 15 minutes to sort it out and then walk back to the edge of the water to finish up the morning.
After my third cast my phone goes off again and it's a customer who needs some parts. I take his order and no sooner than I hang up with him...I get hammered right in front of my toes in about 1ft of water and she is the biggest of the day. Once again my new partner is kind enough to hop over and assist me by tail grabbing her. I say "What do you think? .....maybe 30? " He says "Looks like about 27" and sure enough he was right on the mark!

At this point I'm feeling really kind of guilty because this dude is being so helpful but I'm having a serious run of luck. He said that he thought it was the bait and scent combo I was using but I told him that I believed it was just blind luck. My casts were just landing in the right spots. That being said....I asked him if he wanted to keep the big girl because I had some clients to visit in the area and he promptly replied "Sure". I then also gave him a few baits and a small jar of smelly jelly and wished him the best of luck.
He thanked me for the fish and told me that he and his son will really enjoy the fresh halibut.
All in all....A very enjoyable few hours in the morning!
Fish count......
2 shorties
1 just legal
3 slightly larger models (25" to 27")
Oh ....and of course....I called Wingnut and slightly rubbed it in while he was working hard as usual....LOL
