Launched from Zuma at 2 pm. There was bait EVERYWHERE! It sounded like it was raining at one point but realized it was mackeral boiling all around my kayak. Spent half my time looking for halibut but i still cant seem to find any on the kayak. Im planning on spending some serious time out there after this grunion run, hopefully that will help.

This poor seal has certainly seen better days. Sharks?

I pulled in a countless number of these guys. It seemed that no matter how far away i paddled from one spot i would always find more sanddabs. Extremely frustrating but made for some good eating.

At one point i had caught a lizard fish and decided to send it to the bottom as bait. I dropped the fish just a couple feet in the water while i organized some gear. All of a sudden SLAM, my rod goes bendo and the line sanps. What the HELL was that? A second later a seal surfaces chewing on my fish and choking on the line. THen for whatever reason the damn thing starts swimming right at me. My heart starts racing because i have no idea if this thing is pissed or what. Im just on a little kayak. thank god he just swims right under my yak....little bastard.

Hit up leo carillo that night at 11 hoping to see a nice grunion spawn, only saw a couple individuals, no spawning this time.
