Went to Lake Perris with my dad before his surgery on wednesday. Got to lake by 6am and met Ken from BASSTAXI. Rented the kick *** Skeeter SX180 and fished the whole lake, the marina, the dam, the buoy line, the docks, the tires, the whole island, practically the whole lake and nothing! We went there to catch some big Gills and we used crickets, wax worms, meal worms, night crawlers and mini jigs and only got one. I tried the drop shot technique, bobber and sliding sinker set up. I also caught a fat 6lb bass on a night crawler that fought hard on 3lb maxima line(recommended by BRING IT!). The weird thing was I released the bass but he only floated, didn't want to swim, so I put him in the live well thinking he was just dazed, but that didn't help, so I had to take him home to make a nice filet. The bass and carp were jumping but not hitting on any jigs or plastics. Maybe the full moon had something to do with it? Well anyways we had fun and thanks to Ken from BASSTAXI, what a great guy and what a great service!

Yeah, the water that is coming in from Silverwood to maintain the level at Perris (for the launch ramp) is pretty cold water and the temp there at the lake has dropped several degrees in a short time. This and the cooler weather has caused the Gill bite to slow down.

Do research on fizzing bass. Sometimes they need fizzed if they came from 20 plus feet of water.

Went Out on Sunday with my daughter and caught Limits of trout up to 3 pounds and about 15 gills. The gill bite was slow even on Crickets.

The weather has nothing to do with the water temp. It will help warm up the lake eventually when it starts to get sunny and hot out for several days, but with the state letting in some cold water to maintain the launch ramps, the BG and bass bite will remain slow for a while.
