I recently purchased a Humminbird PirahnaMax 215 with the intentions of installing it on my Tarpon 100 but I am not sure whats the best way to power it...

I was looking at Cabela's 12v battery (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0036388018049a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCHFEAT_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=battery&sort=all&Go.y=0&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&Go.x=0&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1)

but after reading some of the reviews on there i found that a few people were complaining about the charger it comes with and its tendency for it to "overcharge the battery". Does anyone have any input they could give me about this item? The price and the fact that it comes with its own charger makes it appealing to me.

Check out Hook 1 kayak gear, they have stuff specifically for kayaking.
I cant find the battery/charger combo. But it was a good deal. Perhaps look around the site.

I have the Cabelas 12v battery you mentioned. If you're worried about the charger, get a different charger. I would suggest the Battery Tender Jr. It costs about $25 and is a 4 phase automatic charger. Works on all 12v and keeps them topped off without overcharging.

I bought my battery charger from a hobby store in Montclair. Hobby Masters, I think is the name of the store.

I bought the Cabelas 12v and charger for my PiranhaMax 220 and I have no complaints. It works perfectly and I have not had any issues with "overcharging". The battery is great because it's small and sealed and fits perfectly in a ziploc container.

I picked up a "Battery Maintainer" (trickle charger) at Target in the auto section for $19.99.

Then I went to Home Depot for an "Emergency Light" battery (in the outdoor lighting section) About $35.00. I got the 4.5 amp hour, 12 volt battery & it fits nicely in the back pocket of my Nav 4.

I take about 5-6 4 hour trips before I have to charge it for about 2 days. Cheap enough & handy to get.

Well how long on average do u allow it to charge for? B/c i like cabelas prices for the combo of the two so I might just go with it!
