I am looking for a quick reference that has pic of fish with legal lengths on it.

I am looking around the CDFG and cant seem to get what I am looking for.

Any help is appreciated.

Here you go...... but notice it's from 2007 and I haven't found an updated version.

If your going for Rock fish, you'll need to check the current regulations. I think those get changed more frequently.
You can view the chart here (http://www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/bfregs2009.asp#south) and scroll up the page to view the "Southern Management Area" if you're in SoCal.

Thats a good call John. I went to the DFG website a fews ago and printed them on full size paper and laminated them and we kep them on the boat. Here is another link on the dfg website. just click on the map in the area you arefishing and it tells you what is open and closed, and a brief bag and size limit.

Jimmy, if you are a boat based angler, and plan on filleting your fish while at sea, you need to check the DFG book for the fillet sizes. Even though the fish has a legal size to keep, if you fillet the fish, the fillets have to be a certain length as well.

Visit your local tackle store. Most ventors have a waterproof one that they give away for your boat with the size limits on it.
