Decided this morning around 2 am I had to field test the new rods I bought. So off to Redondo. The day was a cool, clear, and pleasant. I wanted to try out the rods I recently bought sort of a test run in water and casting with my buddy Johnny since he hasn't been out in years.

1st rod is a Ugly Stick 6'-6" (15-20lbs)with a Shimano Crestfire CR 2008 reel.
2d rod is a Luhr Jensen 8'-6" (10-20 lbs)with same Shimano Crestfire reel.

This is my 1st time using the Crestfire so I didnt know what to expect. After a few failed cast (3-4) I figured out that the cast control was set to tight and wahlaa began actually casting nicely.

Had a few hits 2 hits on Mack but nothing landed.
Switched to squid and began getting hits on both poles. I caught a couple of macks but sent them back. After 4 hrs decided to leave.

The guy next to us got a few macks and also a Halibut and a Sculpin. He used one of the Macks as bait to catch the rest when I was there. He threw back all but the one used as bait.

It was a nice morning with good people around fishing. Some guys down from us had a few nice sized Bonito.

Well now Im ready to take the kids out for some fishin'
