First time at the pier, first time in saltwater... Within the 1st hour I caught a spot fin croaker(?) and right before we left my friend caught a sand bass. Anchovie n shrimp. Both on the top loop. I will post pics later. Hittin the surf tomorrow.

DAY TWO: 6-6-09
tried the surf for a while for ntohing. we started fishing when everyone decided to come down to the beach so that was kinda sucky. so we went back to the pier. nothing really going on there got a few bites, i think most of it was the current though.
Then, while i was helping my girl bait her pole my friend alerts me that my pole is getting hit, i turn my head, see my pole fall to a diagonal position, lines peeling a little, then it picks back UP AND OVER.... whatever it was that grabbed my offering owes me a new rod. Does this happen to any of you? if so how do you cope cause i can't stop thinking about that!
All in all it was a good time though. Here's pics from day one Pier fishing:
