Got an e-mail last night, allegedly from Bank of America, titled "Notification Account Access Limited".

It says they have temporarily limited access to sensitive account features. It goes on to tell me I need to log into the B of A online banking account and fill in my name and account number.

It also, conveniently, provides a link for me to use to do this.

Ok, I think I'm smelling a skunk here. The only B of A account I have is a Visa card.

Just wondering if anyone else got this e-mail? I'm going to stop by the local branch and see what they have to say about it.

It is definitely a scam, that is what they Phishing, where they send out emails and try to get people to give them personal information. I would forward that email to the customer service of the bank and see if they can track it.
The bank would never ask you for information they already have. There are others like it, where it says you have won a lottery or someone wants to transfer money to your account, but they steal you information and committ fraud.

Be careful.

Lucky me, I just happen to have a former BofA investigator in my family..... :Big Grin: ........ who read your post and called me......

You should forward the e-mail (complete with all headers) to the proper persons at BofA....

They investigate ALL of these types of e-mails.

This is absolutely a scam......don't click on the links. I forwarded it to customer service and called the 800 number for B of A......They said its a scam don't ever open or answer. Pay Pal has the same problem and never asks anyone to verify. It is a scam....

Like everyone said it's a scam. Just FYI, ALL financial institution's would not send emails out like that.

Definitely a scam, but if you get an email from the Crown Prince of Nigeria.........

Seriously though - NO bank will ever send you an email asking to log in - if you're worried about an email like that, then use your URL bar to physically type in the address.\

By address, I mean type in your banks address physically instead of following a link.

All the phishing emails that get sent contain a URL that clearly shows that the link is not going to the financial institutions' web domain.

That's usually a good indicator that the email is not a trusted one.
