Spent the weekend up in the Sierra's, primarily for trout fishing. Rented a Crowley skiff on Saturday and hit the lake with what seemed to be about a hundred other boats. Scratched a few trout in a few hours, decided to go for perch when the trout bite died (I mean completely dead). Headed east of the lake where there were some perch sightings.

Long story, short. We catch some decent perches using 2lb fluro, bobber, small hooks, and meal worms. Long leader was used. Fished in the Leighton Springs area around 8 ft of water. We went there only because other areas were thick with boats. The trick was the small hooks, size 10 mosquitoes. The perches haven't but I think will go into a spawn real soon.

Lastly, the weather changed really quick up there....sunny in the am, rain clouds and lightning storms in the PM. We were told to get out of lake or get closer to Marina around 2pm.

Oh, only one perch had eggs, so I'm assuming the majority where males.
Laters.
