Hit salton sea in the morning. Fishing is wide open! but the catch are mix ranging from 4 inch tilapia to a foot size. The big ones are far out. I recommend using a big hook so you wont catch the small ones. BAit used, night crawlers. Have pics. I'll post later.

The weather was hot but okay.... still bearable. A couple years ago, I literally have to go inside the car a couple times for the AC and you could not let the worms expose to air cuz they will cook. It was that hot out there. Nonetheless, We had a good time. Right now, there are small sizes in the mix. Probably around August, you will get the humongous ones.

I just went out there last monday & caught around 130+ tilapia's between me & my cuz. Out of those 48 were big 1-11/2 lb. Weather was very hot & humid but it was still worth it. (Total 5hrs. 130+)

Did you accidently snag it or did actually bit the hook? Were u using the small kastmaster?

He actually bit after the 2nd cast. I thought it was funny. Yeah it was a smaller one. Switched off to n/c right after that, then it was non stop action till the moment we left. Makes me wanna go back already.

Which beach or road is this place in? There are so many roads and beaches in salton sea. Could any one give a pointer? I plan to go there tomorrow. Any information would be appreciated.

The spot that I hit 2 1/2 weeks ago was 100225 State Park rd. Mecca Ca. Put it on ur gps,map quest, google. Or whatever u like just 2 give an idea of where to head & enter through. Off of hwy 111 turn right on Salton Sea State Rec. Pay the guard & turn left. Follow that down till it looks like the rd. is gonna end then make right. (Play ground on the right) Drive straight into the jetty & find ur parking. This was a good spot 4 me. Try & get there early 2 get a better parking. Hope this was helpful. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Same thought as you Skyler. Those would be a blast on the fly. How far out do they bite? I don't think I'd drop my float tube in there lol.
