I just didnt like my boat's crew since i asked for help in the way to catalina. They never did assist me, aboard the pursuit. I will never get on that boat again. Crew just ignored me. They just said they would but never did and i dont like to ask twice.

Thanks for another great report Japan Ron! I was about to jump on a 1/2day am trip this morning but overslept and missed it. Im glad i did becasue like u said, the barracuda have a tendancy to show up in good numbers and disappear the next day! I hope they come back soon and stick around for a while...

You're welcome.

Only problem with the hit and miss is that it is hard to get lucky and a landings' AM 1/2-day may kill them when the PM get a hand-full or 1/2-day get them one day and the next they're out of range for the 1/2-day but the 3/4-day gets them !! Now that complicates thngs !!

I'm not going to 'chase' the fish via landings' patronage but just kinda take luck as it play out !

Good luck !

Do you ever get tempted to fish the iron instead of plastics? Looks like a fun trip. Thanks for the report.

Hi troutdog,

Thanks. Yes it lots of fun. With the counter .... I could quickly see what I was getting for my efforts. I lost 3 at or near the boat. (no deckie error .... not really). I'm thinking the rubber is the way to go on those as so many guys were wasting time soaking dead baits !!

Hope I and FNNer's, such as yourself, have a few days ahead like that ! I'd go Monday but I ain't fightin' the crowds when I can go on weekdays.

Hi rocknreel20,

I get the 'official' power handle at SAV-ON tackle. Telegraph and Orr and Day Rd. off the 605. I'm sure you know it. They're an official Abu service center.

The main reel service guy is really nice and treats you well !! I've bought about 10 handles from there so he kinda knows me. He'll have the handle, the proper acorn nut, lock-plate, and tiny screw if you ask nicely !! j/k

I used Calcutta 400 handles that I had altered before but they just didn't cut it. Get the real deal. Surprisingly cheap compared to the 400 handle .... which was like $16 or so.

Hi russ88,

Thank you. If I were to not fish plastics ........ I'd fish iron ...... more than likely. Scaled down of course ........ Did a lot of iron slingin' in my day but the HD Calstar 9 1/2, thick walled, jig sticks are just too much for me to hoist all day long !!
