Decide yesterday to make a last minute trip, taking the wife and kid up to the east side this weekend. Planning to hit the road at around midnight friday night. Should take about 5-5.5 hours to get there. Hopefully I will make it to mosquito flats in time to get a parking spot.

I'm leaving Mammoth tomorrow to go back home.

Weather is nice right now. It finally cooled down some but its still warmer than usual. Bring shorts!

Have fun up there people.

395 construction.

North bound lanes before Independence and through town are closed for reconstruction. Only two lane traffic through there. Watch for congestion.

North and south 395 out of Northen Bishop is getting repaved.

North 395 up the grade from Bishop is closed for reconstruction. Only 2 lane traffic on the lower part of the grade. Watch for 35 mph speed limit.

My guess is that about 100,000 of your best friends will be there, too.

(I'm jealous)

I'm not jealous of you this weekend, last weekend or next weekend maybe, but not on a holiday weekend.

The Trees is a nice place to stay, i've been there twice. they have an area to clean your fish and a freezer for storage and a decent size BBQ area.... i cant wait to get back up there.

Nah there will be plenty of other idiots up there too ....I'm just joking!

Personally I avoid the holiday weekends for my travel plans, but if you have a limited window of opportunity then go for it and have fun! When I do travel on holiday weekends, I just kinda change my expectations and understand traffic is going to be heavier and my favorite spots might already be taken.

Bottom line make the best of it, you are going to be in a beautiful place with your family....that does not sound all that bad to me!

Helpful hint for ya:
With gas prices inching up, fill up at the gas station next to the casino in Bishop for the best price in town if you were not already aware of it...if it is jammed packed when you get there try Giggling Springs gas station in town as they have decent prices too!

Have a great time and be safe!

Yeah thanks for the gas tip, I usually gas up at the Chevron at the north end of town (just past the casino). Its nice and, as of two weeks ago, was 10 cents cheaper then all the other bishop stations. Plus, they have Techron in thier 87 octane. :Envious:
