I know that the big LMB love to chomp those bluegills. (I have had 2 hit my bluegill at DVL on 2 lb test and smoke them, and had one the other day at my local residence lake which I actually landed at 3'12oz!) What are the best bluegill imitation baits out there? I bought a 4" storm bluegill, but is doesn't swim well at all. I have some bigger bluegill cranks. Has anyone used a big soft bluegill swimbait? Thanks.

id say go with the blackdog shellcracker its a awesome bait i have the floating version and when it hits the water after a cast it will sit and swim in one spot for a good 30 seconds untill you retrive it.. MATT lures also has some pretty sweet gills...

What were you using for a lure when you landed that 3 pound 12 ounce beauty?

The 3'12oz was the bass that ate my small gill! And the small bluegill hook actually hooked the bass when he ate it!

Good question... I know that Storm lure is a piece of garbage... I bought some once and like you said I don't like the way it swims and you have to retrieve it to fast to even make it do anything decent...

Mattlures has all the bluegill baits you need. Baitsmith Madgills are pretty good too.

.i was at the pudd by the boat rental the other day, and watch a giant pig chase a good sized blue gill ,on the shore, then she just sat there ,waiting for the gill to try to swim away. Makes me wonder what roasted bluegill would use OR I MEAN SUGGEST USING

That is by far the most realistic bluegill imitation lure out on the market right now.
