Went with Mike (Bones) out to NPH this was are second time at NPH and are first time float tubing NPH and it was a recon mission. We fished the area really hard pitching swimbaits and dropshot rigs we were on the water for 14 hours worked the area well. We saw Steve, Arthur and Eric good to see you guys out there fishing with the NPH master you guys killed it out there way to go.

I got a small 9 Inch WSB, 7 Inch hali, Sandbass, and spotties, To many perch witch some fight better then a spottie, and too many big Tomcod. Mike got on sand bass, spotties and a 30 pound bat ray.

I was trying to kick this jelly fish on mikes tube.
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj43/bigredkiller/031.jpg
Mike on a bat ray we knew it was a ray after the first few runs but Mike wanted to see if he could land it on his tube using 10 pound floro and his light bass gear this thing draged him around for 30 min they are very smart at trying to get you snaged.
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj43/bigredkiller/035.jpg
We got the Ray and took a pic of it on land and Mike used his Berkley scale it read 29 to 30 pounds.

Good fishing with you Lucas.......That big batray really worked me around for 40 minutes on my tube. I was going to just cut the line but when you said " Just pretend it's a big halibut "
I decided to see if my little dropshot rig and 10 lb flourocarbon could handlle the fight and it did! Since that was the biggest creature I've ever landed on my tube and the best fight I've ever had on my tube I decided to play it out.....What a blast.

Nice job on da fish!

The last time I tubed NPH, one of those seal brushed against my leg and freaked me out! I haven't been back in 3 years. Are they still aggressive or have they mellowed out?

I get freaked out by Seals but i only saw one in NPH and he was far away i am scared of them esp the males that looked like they fought a GW shark with the double head the broken yellow teeth they way 500 pounds and thay look like a big gorila in the water lol. I think something did hit my leg tho i think it was a big mullet cause there were a lot of them out there.

Yeah....Lucas Boga Grips EVERYTHING....LOL
As far as the fishfinder.....Sometimes it helps with finding structure and dropoffs as well as the thermocline where the fish are holding but for the most part it shows me all of the fish I can't seem to catch....LOL

Lucas & Mike,

It was great hanging with you 2 for a while and chatting while you 2 were blocking my access for my guests! All I heard was how hard it is to pedal around the massive harbor but you two played great defense when it came to letting me get to my spots there!

Lucas,

That is a nice Sargo! They will take you for a ride on the light gear and now I know why you asked where all the perch were!

You also got a few nice NPH Sandies there!

Mike,

So there I was working some tight docks for Eric and Arthur and I get a call from you for some advice on what to do with the big bat! Glad you won the BATTLE!:Big Grin:

Congrats on another sucessful Harbor outing!

Hey Mav.....The number one bait for all of those perch is fresh mussles. Bigred was drifting a dropper loop setup with mussles for bait and he picked up everything from perch to croakers and even one legal size sandbass. I was calling him a commercial fisherman all day long...LOL
Those fish you saw jumping all over the place were mullets. They are primarily vegetation eaters and I hear you can catch them on Frozen peas of all things. We almost had a few of them land in our laps while tubing!

Mav,

PM sent to you!

Everything Mike said is very true coming a NPH Harbor Rookie but very talented and quick learner whereever he goes!:Big Grin:

I would have to argue the # 1 bait though as it would possibly something you would extract from the sand with a Slurp Gun!

Mike,

I did not hear any complaints about how sore you were this week after paddling around that place for 14 hours?

You must have tripled up on the Viagra, Geritol, and Advil!:ROFL:

Oh that's right that one Sea Hawg pulled you around for half of the day!!!!!!!:Envious:

That was classic, we were busy fishing and my phone rings...

Wingnut: "What's up Mike?"

Bones: "I'm hooked up to this Bat Ray and it's been dragging me around for 20 minutes... now it's just sitting on the bottom and won't move, what do I do?"

Wingnut: "............... uhhh.....ummmm........ hold on......." (hands the cell phone to Flyngby).
