Thank you Steve and Arthur for a fantastic day on the water. I almost toppled my record of fish in the bay. I did get my best Spottie ever and on my brand new Tica Back Bay rod. What a way to break in a rod!

Eric, great report! You do have a nice flair and unique style with the rhymes.
Sunday was one of the most enjoyable trips I've had to the NPH... due mostly to the company that I was in.
It was a pleasure fishing with you my friend and we owe it all to Steve for making it happen. It was worth the wait!
You kept up with us pretty well as it was a long day... I only caught you napping a couple of times, haha. Those Spotties can really wear you out!
Steve, thanks for making the time and inviting us out to your favorite playground once again. You are truly a class act on and off the water.

As for the bet with Phuong, aka Blackwater (must catch a Spotted Bass and a Halibut with an all pink artificial). Thanks for cheering me on and pushing me every step of the way. I was lucky to get the Spottie on the "pink" bait rather quickly, but the Hali took another couple of hours to accomplish. But in the end... VICTORY! Up to the moment that I caught that Flat Boy with the pink bait, I was genuinely disappointed every time I pulled a fish other than a Hali out of the water. I would trade in the 17 Spotties and the other miscellaneous fish for a single legal Butt. Or maybe not, I'm starting to love these scrappy spotted things too.

I did catch a ginormous Leopard Shark though...

I was in Newport Harbor a few weeks ago. My boss is getting ready to retire and move full time into his trailer right there at the PCH bridge. He wants to get into fishing and I told him he will have a peime area right in his bacfk yard. I can't wait to show him the post.

We spent 14 hours on our tubes that day and it was still a pleasure but a little on the slow side.
