Woke up at 1am and couldn't go back to sleep so I went down to SARL around 2am. Already cars in line.

Hung out with these guys for a while trying to get a few tips.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/002-4.jpg?t=1242647477

But best tip was from this guy here in the middle. He kills fish at SARL.....
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/004-5.jpg?t=1242647613

Almost time to go past the pay booth. Can't wait.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/003-6.jpg?t=1242647722

You guys should know that she works there and we are friends so don't give a hard time.:Big Grin:
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/006-4.jpg?t=1242647813

I was trying to figure out which of these is female. Never could.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/007-3.jpg?t=1242647958

Trying to stop me from going to the spot.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/008-3.jpg?t=1242647896

Yes there's the spot over there.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/009-4.jpg?t=1242648028

Made it to the spot. Got my lines in the water.(no jigging today)
About an hour later guy next to me got a ligit catch.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/013-4.jpg?t=1242648113

Things wasn't going as planned. Trout wasn't really biting. I think the weather has something to do with. The Trout agrees as they are swimming really close to shore. I even told some guys to use their nets to catch them because they will not take theirs baits. And they did just that. This one is about 3 or four pounds. They got about three of these on the stringer.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/014-2.jpg?t=1242648199

Well since the Trout bite wasn't happening I told my buddy to go after the Blue Gills. Soon after one Blue Gill took the bait(Red Worms) fishing the rails.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/015-2.jpg?t=1242648407

But only caught three at the rail. So I suggested to move to a better Blue Gill spot.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/016-2.jpg?t=1242648561

And the slay was on. He had to come off the shirt cause the bite wouldn't stop. Must of caught at least 100 Blue Gills. Of course I had my lines out for Catfish at the Catfish lake and took care of the grill.
http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq264/castaway06_2008/017-2.jpg?t=1242648681

Great day to be out. Had some really good food and friends. There were at least 8 of us. Just don't want to put there pix up.

So I ended the day with the skunk. No big deal though. I'll get em' next time. Probably do some night fishing soon.
Here's a pic of me with the skunk. Oooops. I'm suppose to be in the pix.
Maybe next time.

Nice report Casty. Too bad about the skunk but as long as you had a good time it doesn't matter. Forget the trout wait for catfish season. We need the 3 Amigos reunion soon! Let's go!

Thanks for the detailed and colorful report. I can't believe people were waiting in line even before 2am. I'm guessing they were people who ended the night session and then got in line again and waited it out.

Sorry about the skunk man. That's usually my luck there but I still enjoy going there for the panfish. When are you gonna be out there next (if ever again, haha)? I've caught some decent fish over near the stairs, but closer to that pipe to the right of that area.

The water is too hot for the trout, that is why a lot of them were belly up floating dead and swimming so close to the shore. Trout fishing there is a waste of money.

The Panfish bite is wfo right now. Trout, it's way to hot for them to be in the mood to take bait, imo. I think it's time to get ready for the Catfish bite. I have all my Catfish gear so when the Saint or anyone on the board want to go out and slay I'm ready. But let's start the Catfish season off Three Amigo's style.

hey Cast, what rod and line are you using for the cats?

Sometimes I will fly line with my 8foot 4lb test Phenix rod.
I just gave my sister my net and my Shimano set up which
has 6lb test with P-line. I only use P-line. I have an Okuma
bait runner with 8lb test. I'll use that and will be able to bring
any size Cat any day or night no problem. But I mostly like to catch them
on my four lb line. Got to set your drag just right with that though.
When they shake their head side to side you might just break off if
you don't have it set right, or if you don't havve the right rod for the
line class. If you want to go out and fish just let me know.

When are you going next buddy?

I'll probably wait til' they start the big stock for the season.
There's Catfish in there now but when I was there they didn't
want anything. Even though my buddy did catch one dink Cat
using red worms. He don't get credit for that. I was using N/C
with no marsh mellows. So the next time I go I need to remember to
bring some. But you know everyone has their own personal preferences
when it comes to technique, bait, or lure. I'll pm ya when I know
which day I will be going out there. Or let me know when you plan
to be out there and maybe I could join ya.

Yes it was a very laid back day. Everyone was saying they had
a good time pulling in the Pan fish. They thank me for putting them
on fish(LOL). Yeah I hope they do put the big boys in there.

The Three Amigoes will set Catfish season off with a Bang! Maybe give it a few weeks to really heat up. Then we will strip them of their Catfish Polulation! SARL won't know what hit em!

For Realz! Saint! Casty! Let's do this!
