My son and I went to GVL Saturday morning to try our luck, since we had never been there before. Tom picked me up at 4:30 AM, and we got up there just after 5:30. We stopped at the boat rental dock to get some local information. The guy there told us where we could probably do pretty well, since he saw people catching fish there the day before.
We walked across the dam, and found a nice spot. Both of us prefer lures to bait, so we began casting our UL outfits. During the next three hours we caught and released over 20 fish between the two of us, and lost even more. Barbless hooks make fishing a great challenge. One thing both of us noticed was the tenacity of the trout we caught. Ninety percent of them were very acrobatic and were 12"-14" in length.
Tom & I both had a lot of fun, and were ready to leave at 10 AM. We will be going back for the fine fishing and the pristine surroundings.
