8:40PM we felt a real nice one here (San Diego)....

(No, this has nothing to do with the "Legalization" thread!)

Looks like it originated up in L.A. (5.0 !)

I was laying down in bed and I sure felt it in Garden Grove. I looked at my cell phone and it said 8:40 PM. It was a good one. Trippy you felt it down in San Deigo Rich. News said it was centered one mile East Hawthorne. That sounds like the Newport / Inglewood fault.

I love the people that call into the news. They are always so dramatic and the news loves it...

News: "So was there any damage?"...

Earthquake "survivor": : "Um... yes... We were all so scared... It started shaking and a picture frame fell. The frame is pretty much a loss... and um... I think a book tipped over...

News: "Oh my... how tragic... Well we hope you and your family can regroup and pull through this..."

newslady on channel 9 was a wreck. I dont think I've ever seen a shiney newsperson. She looked like she did a lap around the block before going on the air. She had the greatest material too:

"I have friends that know what to do during an earthquake"
-thats great news! How about reporting what experts say you should do during an earthquake? BTW, don't you live in CA? I think I've seen you on the news a few times over the years so shouldn't YOU have first hand experience on what to do?

"if you're at your dining room table, you should crawl under it"
-wait for it...wait for it...YES, teleprompter kicks in and she adds.."oh unless its a glass table or has a chandelier hanging over it"

"if you're in bed, you should stay put"
-I have never heard this one. I don't know if I'm out of the loop, but back when I was in school, they used to teach us to go into doorways, under solid wood furniture like desks and tables, etc...but I'm not so sure I want to stay in bed and get crushed by possible falling debris.

Here's something strange to add to the mix. There was a small quake here in North Texas at about the same time, only 3.3 on the Richter, but still, in Texas? We are not known as earthquake country by any stretch!
Hmmm.
It's a conspiracy!!!!!

We were sat at the dinner table, and I felt a rolling motion and squeaked "earthquake". The others were like, what? And just as I squeaked "earthquake" again the big jolt hit. Yeah, I think they understood then
I carped myself.....still not used to these things! And the dog pooed in Gators bathroom.

Felt it pretty good in West Covina.

It was tragic, the report and picture they received from "Tiffany" in Culver City that showed the graphic destruction of her toilet paper roll holder toppling in her bathroom with also a few items from the sink top.

I think that KCAL 9 should have had better coverage of the possible "Dial Up" issue with TM65. Imagine the tragedy if he wouldn't have been able to post.

I'm in the South Bay, and I felt it. It was centered in Lennox. It really wasn't that bad in my opinion. I just stood in a door frame for a minute, watched some stuff fall off my desk, heard some car alarms go off, and sat right back down. The aftershocks weren't too bad.

The newscasters were hilarious though. One of them went up to house, and asked the homeowner if she would mind turning down her TV to answer a few questions. The first question out of the news caster's mouth was "Do you still have power?" The homeowner just looked at the newscaster with disbelief and shut the door in the newscaster's face.

I heard it before I felt it. The dog barked at the door :Rolls Eyes: and Mike and I sat on the couch watching to see how long before the kids came out of their room.

I rarely feel earthquakes anymore unless they are over a 4. Seemed like this one rolled for a bit after the initial jolt, but I didn't feel any of the tremors afterward.
