hey ive decided to ask this question here on fnn. if u dont wanna answer then its kool. well i went to a local lake today and caught this pink/white tilapia. what i want to know if its rare? a albino perhaps?

Its a ruby red oscar. Probably just somebodies pet that was released into the lake. You can find tons of them at the pet store though. Thats a pretty big one. If you throw him in your aquarium he might kill all the other fish. They can be quite aggressive...

i dont think its an oscar beacause i also got a tilapia today and the shape and pattern are exacly the same. its in my aquarium already and hes calm and just swimming like normal

Looks a lot like the Corona Lake tilapia we were catching earlier this year.

it could be a red devil cichlid. same body shape as a tilapia but their natural color is pinkish-orange.

I believe you have a Standard Textbook Tilapia expressing the recessive alleles for color. It is not albinism, that would be a mutation. However, expression of recessive alleles in the phenotype is naturally rare for the same reason there are more people with brown hair on the planet than blonde hair.

Nothing to bizarre here. Unless there is something that I dont see.

just eat it and you'll find out right away if it is a tilapia or not.

Pretty unfortunate for the fish to have lived all the way home. I'm guessing he placed it in his aquarium for holding while he prepped the veges for fresh Oscar soup! :Rolls Eyes:

WTF, get over it dude! So he took home a fish that was probably dumped in the lake and came FROM an aquarium anyway. Big F-Deal! If the boy wants to risk his luck, be it. No sense in flaming on the kid on a forum.

it's not flaming on the kid, it's watching his back... Who's going to pay the ticket once he does get caught??? His parents... then they'll confiscate all his nice gear, you know he has a Cumara now right??? Use the money they make selling his gear and pay off his ticket.
