Nice report Ron! Glad to see the sculpin wanted to cooperate with the straight plastic routine.

My dad has been very successful on that plastic crawdad in the past. Captains and deckhands were skeptical, but he proved them all wrong! Won several JPs using it. Worked the best for him on the twilights.

Hi JackpotJimmy,

Thanks for the input. That gives me a little bit more confidence to fish the things. Got some outstanding colors !!

Hi TShaffer,

Last year, my buddy brought some live crawdads he bought at a tackle store and they worked !! That's why I made the same attempt with the rubber. Have yet to catch a Sheephead ... my target .... on one as yet ! :(

I think the internal leadhead may really work fished with a Carolina rig and looooong fluoro leader in or above the structure.

I have used live crawdads to target sheephead specifically. They love to chew on them and crunch up the shell, but it is hard to get them to swallow them to allow you to hook up. However, a cabezon or scuplin will gladly swallow a whole crawdad.

great report. i like that migration map too. i was out there in my boat that day. i was planning on takin lots of pics, but with the stress of getting the gear, boat, food, etc ready i forgot the camera! im still new at boating, but i did manage to catch LOTS of sandab, and one sculpin. hopefully i do better next time, and try to make a good report after. thanks for yours

Hi newster,

Thanks for the experience-based advice. Hummm I'm wondering if a stinger might not be the ticket. I'm going to start trying eels and such and will be testing the best hooks for a stinger on those too.

Hi supasportkid,

Busy huh ?! Just wait till you have to take care of 3 other guys in your boat besides yourself and the boat !! You'll be lucky to have 5 minutes to yourself !! :)

Hate to rag on ya but ........... it's for your own darn good !! Did you get that chart yet ?
