Well after starting to make plans for a Mothers Day trip with a few Santa Fe Eric and Wingnut to NPH, I was diverted on Cinco de Mayo to Santa Barbara area for a battle with Mother Nature!

I now had the task of guiding my young firefighters through what was going to be a long battle lasting 5 days and nights in the Hills!

While there I managed to get a few pics of the conditions in the surf although some were from afar!

Instead of jumping the rough waves in the surf were were confronted with waves like this!

Or we were trying to stay out of the way of these guys!

From my vantage point the surf conditions looked perfect! Sorry can not tell if it was high or low tide.

This spot looks like a place someone took me before!

Sky conditions were sometimes partly overcast to completly socked in!

The sun setting on yet another day of the battle!

My pic of the week in a battle of another kind!

A moment of relaxation before returning home!

So the first long battle of the young season is behind us and I look forward to getting a day to relax.

To Santa Fe Eric sorry but I know you understaand and this Sunday is not far off!

Hopefully Mother nature will cooperate and let us go out together and have a great time in the OUR HARBOR together with the others that also enjoy our place of Tranquility!

Thanks to all for taking care of my pets in NPH by teasing them with the baits into a CPR moment while I was away for the week!

Hope to meet some of you out there there this Sunday!

Steve... fishing will always take a back seat to saving people's homes and precious lives. I admire and appreciate the services that you and your fellow firefighters provide. I can't even imagine what it's like standing on the front line staring down that wall of flames. You've earned a well deserved break to spend fishing in your favorite harbor this weekend... see you then my friend. :Big Grin:

The pics are breathtaking!

Going to be a long fire season boys and girls, make sure to be safe out there! There were some close calls up there in SB!

Steve!
I definitely understand! My biggest concern was your safety, the safety of your crew, and all of the other brave souls fighting to save the lives and precious memories of others. I'm ready this Sunday, but if you are needed elsewhere, I will wait until the Sunday after and so on!

Seriously, I knew you were a great guy, but taking us into the battle with you through camera really gives a person like myself insight into the miraculous will and calling that you and other people in Uniform have on your lives.

May your days that are not spent fighting the flames that are ablaze be filled by feeling the awesome headshakes that those Hali's and Spotties display!

Thanks Steve for being there, along with your 2500 other buddies, and making a difference here in SB. I was evacuated for 4 days from my home. I tried La Conchita for the weekend, and only caught 1 bsp. So.........you didn't miss much in the way of a bite, and when the wind dies down, the conditions will get better for us fishermen. See you at the beach. Mikey
