Hey all,
Has anyone heard of the economic impact on lodging in the Eastern Sierras?
With the tough economy and limited funds, we should try to do business with motels and resorts who will cut us a break to stay viable. This option will ensure the survival of these resorts and the economic survival of the businesses that rely on them. And, we get a bargain in the process. I think it's a win/win situation. Any thoughts on this idea or any info to share.

I have had success checking on web sites such as VRBO.com (vacation rentals by owners) and offering just over 50% of the asking price or even asking for two nights free if I book 3 or 4. Some owners want no part of it but most are willing to make a deal rather than letting their place sit vacant.
