Nobody likes to do these things but this is crucial. After the public comment on May 19th. They'll start picking the maps.

The public comment session is at 7 PM. You don't have to show up for the whole day. Just show up at 6-6:30 PM, fill out a card and speak your mind. This is really our last chance to let them know how much it'll impact us. We're expecting several hundreds of us fishermen there. Also, wear black.

If you need more info on the process, educational videos are available at: http://www.youtube.com/mlpainfo

There are three dates listed above, the 19th, 20th and 21st. Can you provide the agendas for all three days? Can the public attend any of the three dates?

I worked with a group up north, Central Coast area that was against the MLP's on the CA coast, we went to many meetings and had one on one meetings with the head honchos. They had us fill out the same forms you are speaking of for specific comments and suggestions, long story short, the initiated the MLP's and put our names in the rules and regulation books as if we had signed off on the MLPA as it was A okay. I wish all of the Southern coast people the best of luck, but these public comment and forums are just a sham to say that they took "all" the stakeholders into consideration, the way they look at it, the tree huggers are the only stake holders. The only way to "win" in this situation to is "sue" for the data they are using to implament the MLPA and dubunk that data, as it surely is flawed. These guys are the same as the global warming nuts, and the only thing they answer to is a judge mandated court appearence. Best of luck.

*** SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT – IMPORTANT MLPA MEETING – May 19 – Doubletree, Santa Ana***

Ok guys and gals, this meeting is the real thing and we need YOU here to voice YOUR opinion. As many of you know the MLPA is coming to Southern California and it will affect where YOU fish. The next few months will be critical in shaping the protected areas and now is YOUR time to speak up.

A special meeting has been called on May 19th to allow for public comment to begin after dinner at around 7:00 PM in Santa Ana. This is an opportunity for all those who work to attend and get their public comment presented to the RSG. This is an important time to tell them where to put or not put MPA areas. The RSG will spend the next two days (20th and 21st) in negotiations over where the RSG should “draw the lines”. Comment cards should be filled out and handed in before 7:00 PM as they may limit comments to only those cards received by that time. The meeting location is:
