G-Man

Summer is here, and on the weekdays when it's not too crowded on the "war zone" (Newport Pier) I love to go bendo on the ocean's most gulible fish...Green Mackerel! Yep, garbage fish to many an angler. But when you're broke, the surf's not firing, and all you have to do is grab your gear and walk out the door...WHO CARES!
It's wide open on greens and there are some Spanish Mackerel schools mixed in. If you need kitty bait freshwater guys, hit Newport durning the incoming high tide to maximize the take...sabikis with chunks of mac work the best...I hate sabikis, and I'm fishing for chuckles, so I use a Yo-Zuri Hydromag Dueler, 18g in the blue/white pattern. From 4pm to 5:30 every cast was a fish :fishing:. Small, yes. Fun? BOOOOYAAAAH! :woot: Remember, the object here is to have a fish bite your bait and you haul it in...that is how the stripe comes off the back, no matter the size or type. Fishing therapy, I call it. Catching solves everything.

Buddy Ryan was making shark bait and keeping them in a live net...

This little guy was bent on his first Mac. He was so excited he was in tears and once landed, paraded the fish around the pier in a victory march!
