my dad and i decided to do some exploring up around the Kern area. I have never caught a golden before and my dad has not fished for them in over 20 years. We didnt really know where we were going. We stopped and fished a few spots until we found what we were after.

The first fish of the day and my first golden ever. This sucker was fat and good sized for these small creeks.

A few more smaller ones

My dad ended the day with a monster. It went 10" and it was fat and had the best colors of all the other fish caught.

I understand the secrecy that goes along with catching goldens that dont require a days hike:Secret:

Did you take the SHerwin Pass to get there?

That is really cool. My first Golden was on a fly also, in 1968 on Bubb's Creek during a lunch break, I was 18.

from the research i did, i think those are not hybrids. From what i found on the net, those are pure strain little kern goldens but who knows, i could be wrong. I just got back right now from another golden mission. Keep a eye out for a report soon.

Sweet man. You guys are pretty active still!
I gotta work something out soon. Getting the itch to flick the fly bad!
Missing all the good trips lately.

Yeah dude I was supposed to roll too but my family wanted to see me this weekend for my birthday. Trying to get out of it for the weekend but not sure. Mike's gonna kill me, I keep making plans and backing out a week early.
I need to get out there soon!
