Will be heading up next weekend may 9 for my first of many trips this year...
Can anyone tell me if ROCK CREEK LAKE, SABRINA LAKE AND SOUTH LAKE- are ice free??
I know anything can happen on a daily basis as far a weather... Thanks fellow fishermen

I can tell you that as of 4/27 Rock Creek lake was still frozen solid...

South Lake is nearly 100% frozen as of today. There is a little open water near a few shorelines and a little by the inlet but not much.

Sabrina is ice free as of this morning.

No idea about Rock Creek Lake.

We ice fished South Lake on 4/26/09, ice was 20-24in thick and melting during the day. Caught many trout on brown/green mini jigs tipped with a meal worm through the ice. Inlet had some open water with fish visable and biting.

We hiked (campground gate was locked) back to the inlet at Rock Creek Lake on 4/29/09, there is some open water at the inlet about the size of 4 olympic swiming pools, just enough to expose deep water reachable with a 1/4oz eg sinker w/ 7' rod, small rainbows were hitting salmon/peach powerbait for my buddy and a powermouse (white egg/natural colored power worm) for me. Ice on lake did not appear safe to walk on.

Not sure about Sabrina

Good luck, H4F
