My brother hit me up on Thursday and said the bite is going to be on, lets go Friday!. When I saw there was an oppertunity to clear my calender I called him and siad lets do it. Long drive from Palmdale but I met my bro at BassPro in Rancho Cucamonga and jumped in his truck from there. We arrived at the lake 06:30 AM and there were maybe 3 boats out on the lake before us. There was no wind at all and thats not really a good sign but it was very confortable. Our plan was to start at the east dam and work our way around the whole lake. We pretty much threw plastics all day, I tried some topwater plugs for no love. The east was a little slow but we managed to pick a few small ones, from there we hit the points and coves. As soon as the breeze picked up the fishing picked up and it became a hot bite at just abiout every spot we stopped. For the most part I used my new Shimano Crucial medium light drop shot rod with the 1000 Stradic on 5lb Flouroclear Pline. I loved the Crucial but I will NOT recommend the 5lb Flouroclear line. It is plenty strong but fish kept breaking the line right above the hook. It turned out that the bass little teeth or harsh lips kept fraying the line and caused weak spots and then break. My brother used the same line and between both of us we must have broken of at least a dozen fish. it really didn't matter that much because we were getting bite after bite. Biggest fish of the day was about 5.5, but most fish we caught ranged from 3 to 5 lbrs, and were all post spawn bass. We ended the day with well over 50 bass, 2 accidental trout and a 7 lb cat.

At the marina we spoke to a few others and it seemed like everyone caught their share. We are surprised to see very few boats out and the fishing is so good. This is probably the best month on the lake so if your thinking about it do it before it gets too hot.

After fishing we went back to Basspro to pickup my truck and of course had to go inside to re supply all the plastics we went through.

I am having trouble posting photo's from this pc, I'll try to post them later.

Yes, we definately saw some cruising carp, big ones, we didn't see any panfish but weren't looking for them. It looks like most fish are getting pretty active. Hopefully the shad will start coming then watch out for all species.

Yes Rob I love that Crucial medium light, really broke it in with these strong bass. I also caught quite a few big bows with it at the FIN. It's my favorite rod now. Thanks for gving me deal on it.
