I have a hard enough time trying to get them to eat it while I'm jiggin em'. Why would they eat them if they're just sittin on the bottom?

And thats the million dollar question. I have seen on more than one occasion cig butts in the stomachs of rainbow trout. I've also seen pieces of plastic worms.
