Hey guys and girls,

My wife and I haven't been to Vegas in a LONG time due to quite a bit of personal probs, so we are trying to go Sunday May 24-Tuesday May 26th. But, in typical GD fashion, I dont know if were going to be able to go.

Ok, on to my questions. I was thinking of a back up plan. I was thinking about heading to San Diego or "area" and staying in a hotel:

1. That has a large parking lot for my long a** truck.
2. That is nice, yet affordable.
3. Pool

Now this is really important, lol :

4. Preferably near a beach or bay, Id like to do some dropshotting for bass and/or halibut.
5. Fairly close to a sportfishing landing that will actually make it out on a monday, probably for a 1/2 Day trip on Monday.

I think thats all my questions for now...thanks everyone!!!

There are a few options for you down here.

Parking lot size and locations to landings and bays are no problem.

Affordability might be a little challenging but if you use your AARP and AAA discounts then you might be okay.

1) The Hilton located on Mission Bay is located within 2 miles of Seaforth Landing and Mission Beach ( if you want to do some surf fishing)

2) The Paradise Point resort is located right across the street from Seaforth landing and is on Mission Bay but might run you 150-200 dollars per night.

3) The Bahia ( I think that is still the name of it ) is a hotel located a mile west and is about 2 blocks from Mission Beach. It is within a mile of Seaforth landing and 100 yards from the amusement park and roller coaster at Mission Beach. It is called Belmont Park.

4) All of the above hotels are 2 miles from Sea World, Mission Beach and Belmont Park, and Seaforth landing.

Do you know anyone that can loan you a camping trailer? How does your family feel about tents? Ever check out Campland on the Bay? Fun. Swimming pools, frizbee golf, beach and water, great fishing for spotties in their marina. WTH, my kayak for the week.

Keep driving south on the I-5 until you hit a little town called "San Quintin". Cheap and clean lodging, excellent food....and the fishing is "ok".

No problem, bro. All you really need is a 1/4 ounce jighead, and a bag of Gulp! jerkshads in nuclear chicken. You'll have plenty of creatures to keep you busy for the day, he he. And if you want to really get into some fish, head down the road a ways to Fiesta Island or DeAnza Cove. I've had some epic days there. Good luck.

I would disagree with Mission, Pacific Beach area being the spot. Check out Shelter Island/Harbor Island area. There are tons of hotels and restaraunts along Rosecrans Blvd and Downtown area. You will be in the area of Point Loma sportfishing fleet along with the fishing pier that is there. You can also go the launch ramp and launch a kayak, boat, or float tube and hit up S.D. Bay. The reason I am pointing in this direction, since this is going to be on Memorial Weekend, Mission/Pacific Beach area is going to be an absolute zoo of beachgoers and traffic will be a nightmare.

If you do decided to hit Shelter Island up, you will be able to enjoy twilight concerts at Humphreys by the Bay.
