me and my fishin buddy made the 3 and a 1/2 hour trip from san fernando valley 2 lopez lake , we left at 12:00 am and arrived at 3:30 . we went down to find the water level was way low so our old spot was gone, went back to the car got 2 hours of sleep, went to the dock at sunrise after 20 mins of no crappie yet there was no elbow room 7 people on a 10 foot dock ,we were theree first by the way. went to the old boat house cove and we caught 3 crappie and my 1st smallie before the crowd seen us catching fish, and here they come they crowded around like we were giving away stuff. so that pretty much ruined the rest of my day we were out of there by 10 am. where is the respect my fishing space anymore?::Confused:

Congrats on a fine outing! Looks like you had some fun until the chuckleheads showed up. I have never fished Lopez. Do they allow float tubes there? Thats a cheap way of getting out on the water away from others. Anyhoos,,,, Welcome to the board and thanks for sharing.

I think if that Smallmouth is 12 inches you can keep it, but you should try to practice "catch and release". Some lakes you can't keep smallmouth (DVL), so be carefull.
