How is the fishing at Baldwin Lake up past Big Bear. Any tips? What type of fish is the lake know for?

Baldwin goes bone dry almost every summer. There are no fish in there. Baker pond, which is on the east side of Stanfield cutoff, holds some fish. Mostly carp and cats, but also a few bass, sunfish and trout that swim from the main lake through the pipes under the cutoff.

Baldwin hasn't had water in it for at least 3 or 4 years now. When it does have water its a state eco reserve and you can duck hunt from a boat. Per the regulations there fishing is illegal.

Even if there was water all year, and you could fish it legally, it still wouldn't matter. The lake has way too high a salinity level for fish to survive. It's basically a salt marsh.
