Def noticed this weekend that my rod wasnt that good at launching tady lures. What size rod should I be looking at? I read about an 8ft? Is seeker a good rod. My bro in law has a Daiwa and it is nice. I will prolly be putting an AVET reel on it...

Shimano Teramar TMC80H is a good Jigstick at a good price. But if u have the money go with the Seeker GhettoDad recommended.

Yep....alot of good jig sticks out there. Really would depend on your budget.

Ditto what he said. Still getting the casting dialed in but this thing does throw nicer than my 8 footers.

These would have been first choices... Once again excellent advice from the Homie GD .. Always providing the deal and keeping it Reel. With the Graphiter (800) you can also go with the 850 (8.5') or 900 (9'). Or if you have a back of steel you might be tough enough for the Ulua.. Back in the day when I was about 20 years old I used to fish a 540 with a Penn 500 with the extra long screws and a full aluminum Newell Kit but it's been a long time since I've put my back through that kind of abuse. I do bring out my 11' Siloflex sometimes..

Both are great rods for throwing the surface iron imo. If you feel the 10ft ulua by seeker is a little too much, you can always have it cut down before getting it wrap.

you dont suggest an ulua to a newer guy wanting to go from 7 feet......

just dont start off with a graphite rod because they have no tip and arent good for throwing jigs. a 690j or a baby ulua is good. if you learn with the bigger stuff, then you can throw anything. or if you can find them, go with the all time bests harnell 542 and 724
