Jessie wanted to go fishing back to Lake Mission Viejo so let’s go!! We get to the lake at 6am and not 1 boat was rented out and nobody was in line. Jessie is sorta new to freshwater fishing so I hooked his rods up with tackle and such. Not a minute in the water and Jessie gets bit instantly. Shortly after he gets another fish. Every fish went airborne once they felt the hook. My first fish ended up being over 4.25lbs. A 15lb gut wrenching largemouth bass was the highlight of the day. It was following our trout so we took a few pics of it. Eventually another bass over 10lbs was hanging around after we were catching trout. Jessie and I caught our limits in about 3.5 hours. Where’d you guys get those at other anglers would ask? An inflated nightcrawler on a 3ft leader, 4lb line, #8 Eagle Claw baitholder hook, small swivel, and a small egg sinker. The fish were at the dam in 25ft or so. The day was cloudy for most of the morning then the sun came out. It was easier to see the bass and get a pic once the sun came out. I’m wondering when the trout season will end? It’s time to target white seabass soon once when they start biting more. A bigbass also chased our fish around last Sunday too. It could be the same one. It's much harder to reel these fish in as fast as you can (away from the bass) while you're using 2lb line like my friend was last week. These Nebraska fish fight so well. Our battery sucked for some reason. We barely made it in and all the equipment is suppose to be new. Yeah right if you ask me!! Enjoy the pics.

Look at the belly on this bass!! Wow!!

These 2 guys anchored in front of us as we caught fish. They did the same thing to Simon and me on Sunday as we had to row and re-anchor each time. They had no consideration of the 3 boats casting in that area.http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s70/Reelanglers/BigBass777/SpotStealers25.jpg
Larry just caught this 9.6lb bass before 6pm today. Bass 6-9lbs are biting good right now.

Awesome action... I liked the trout vs. bass pictures. I am going to post a new thread in a bit, but I had the same type of thing happen yesterday except I had a nice blue gill and right as I brought it in to the dock a really large catfish came up from the deep to hit that thing. Very aggressive fish.
The fact that you got some pictures of the event was awesome.
Congrats on a fine outing..
Cheers!

I talked to a guy on a bass boat first thing in the morning. He was tossing a Huddleston and no fish. He's been throwing swimbaits all season and hasn't caught one fish. My friend has only heard of 3 swimbait fish caught in the 18 years he's lived here. The water is 40ft visibility here and these big bass have seen everything. They know what a live trout looks like. These big bass are real lazy too as I watched it slowly go after the live trout.

I too have dedicated alot of hours throwing the huddles for a few followers but no hookups. The bass of mission viejo are to wise. I need to get back out there with my buddy this weekend. Hopefully get a DD... Thanks for the report.

I need to figure out a way to fish that lake! Good Job on the trout, and bring a swimbait rod next time!

The bass there have seen a lot Hudds. I would go out and experiment with some different swimbaits, like the Baitsmith Magnum trout, to give them something new to look at. Or go for a reaction strike. Lunker Punker anybody?

Went to Lake Mission Viejo today again for trout fishing. Threw a trout plug and no bass were interested in it. It swam straight and had great action. The water is too clear. Even threw some dead nightcrawlers to the bass in the marina and they spit them out. A smaller one came and ate them. It's like they know the difference between a dead and live nightcrawler.
