i'm going to be fishing for flathead catfish at the colorado river and will be catching bluegill for bait. i haven't targeted bluegill since i was 6 years old, so if anybody has suggestions on bait, jigs, presentation techniques, etc. it would be helpful. I gotta catch a lot of em

Stop by Salton Sea to get some Talapia, those are great for bait.
For bluegills, use panfish jigs in red/white, yellow/white or you can use cricket with #10 hooks with a small split shot to get them down, meal worm, red worm work for them too.
Good luck.

if you find that they are close to shore just flyline a meal worm and just let it sink and twitch every once in a while...only do so if you know the gills are close to shore.

Just use meal worms. First make sure they are the little ones, not the jumbos.
Kenny's Rod & Reel in Upland has plenty.
Then thread the meal worm on to a size 10 single snelled hook. Place the hook under the smallest bobber you can find. If the wind is up, you can use a BB shot between the bobber and the hook, but I try to avoid this if possible.
Result should be all the bluegill you want, especially in the River area.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!
