Due to numerous reports of the fish biting, some good intel from the BFIA (Bakersfield Fishing Intelligence Agency) and a text from Skaguy, it was on.
We left around 4:00 p.m. and headed for the spot.
As soon as we got there, there were some guys there just pulling one up, so spirits were high. We started on the same side as them and I started throwing a Trap. Two casts in there was a bad spot in my line and away flew the Trap. Picked up another pole with a jerk. Two casts in I luckily had the line from the Trap and recovered the lure. At that point we went through the holes in the fences and got to the other side. I threw the jerk a few more times and switched to bait.
I went with a split-shot setup with 1/2 a chove. About a minute later, fish on. I could feel the line rubbing against something and when he got closer, I lost him. It turns out there was a bunch of tumbleweeds floating about in the eddy's. We would continue to snag them throughout the trip.
Anyways, I rigged up again with same bait. A couple minutes later, fish on. These were some good fighting fish.

This would be my last fish.
Sergio was throwing a white grub for a bit until he saw how I was doing. So he rigged up the same. A couple minutes after he threw in, fish on and landed.

About 15-20 minutes later he got another.

That would be the end of it for us as far as catching. Sergio lost one a bit after his second. We didn't even get another bite. The guys across the way probably caught 5 or 6 including a couple after our last. We left around 8:00.
It was looking like it was going to be an extraordinary trip, but turned out good none-the-less.
It was kinda hot and the wind was blowing from our back pretty hard at times.
All in all a good few hours.
