Got to the lie at 6:45, and gate opened on time at 7am. got boat in at 7:30. went straight to wingnuts bouy, but only got a couple dinks there, so we drifted over to the dam and achored in a bout 50' of water. after 30-40 minutes and no takers we decided to reel them in, and my dad was on a 2lber with a night crawler, so we decided to try longer, but i changed out one line with a sardine, and that was the ticket. down about 15-20'.
so we changed all lines to sardines, from anchovies and crawler. bite was pretty good, and we managed 6 from 2-2.25 lbs. plus another 5 at 1 lb. + a bunch of dinks. bite tapered of at noon and dinks were the only thing around. best bite seamed to be from 10-12. brought home 10 fish.
first striper trip of the year, and we were pleased with the results.
be back in 2 weeks. gotta take the boat in for servicing first.
