Got to the lake around 5:20am. Lots of cars in line. First time there in 8 years for me. Gates opened at 6am but didn't get to the booth till about 6:30am. Paid for my friend and me, and got the bait holder/pliers. Found a spot on the west shore, right at the stairs. Threw out my first pole with Garlic Powerbait with garlic dip. Turned around to pick get my 2nd pole ready when the first pole strikes. Set the hook and handed it off to my friend's brother. (He's never caught a freshwater fish and the last time we went fishing, we just couldn't get his poles to bite) Landed the fish, its a 1.25lber. Re-rigged and all four of us got set up. We got bites up till about 9:30am but was only able to land one additional fish. Got a few more bites around 11am but still, nothing.
Fairly slow day for the shore fishermen. Saw a few fish here and there. Did see a 17 or 18lber caught, closer to the boat docks. Seemed like some of the boaters were doing well though. Left about 12pm.
Not the greatest day out on the water, but the BOGO sure made it better.
