Hello again all.
After getting a invite from CAP"T (Scott) to participate in his event at Hansen Dam for the Kids, I decided I would get him and his son fishyboy (Arthur) out in my play ground for some Harbor action!
We met up at 0500 and arrived at the launch by 0615 and after giving a few tips we were on the water and on our way by 0645.
It is good to be familiar with the area as they are dredging the launch area and today they did not mark the big semi floating hose that feeds the barge. As we left the narrow launch area we were told to stay right of the red temp buoys they had out. Their hose surfaced on a burp or air bubble passing through it and surfaced about 30 feet to the right of the buoy and forced us into very shallow water that was only 3 ft for a short while.
Anyway after navigating that area We worked down the line towards the PCH Bridge to very dirty water conditions so we continued down the line looking for some cleaner water.
I decided to start at Bay Isle in what was some cleaner water but as I pulled up to my starting spot There were 2 Float Tubers in the channel so I diverted to some docks on the Isle.
I gave my 2 guests a quick tip as to where to toss the baits and we started our day.
It did not take Scott long like 3 casts to get his first ever Flattie although it was short.:Thumbs Up:

We continued to work the island for some short bites with missing swim bait tails and worked around the outer point and we were again getting hit and kept resetting on the spot with all of us getting short bites until Scott managed to entice this decent YFC on the swim bait!

We finished working the isle and then proceeded up the channel to a spot I wanted to work and as I was almost there I thought I recognized a Newbie FNN on the shore drop shotting. I made a quick u-turn to find a smiling (Jaysuuun) and (Tesserz). Nice to meet you 2 out there today!!!!
After a few moments of conversation we were on our way.
We made a move down the harbor after no results on that spot and found these to lounging on a boat.

I worked an area I like near the Ferry for nothing again and we made a move into a channel on the south of Balboa Island and we fishyboy picked up his first a Pig pile perch that I do not have a pic of but maybe Scott has.
We drifted all the way to the bridge onto Balboa Is. and came upon DEADROOTS and a buddy. They told us about a nice fish that they had caught (see his post) and we discussed how slow it was and hopefully things would pick up and we went on out way.
Since my normal spots were not producing I took Scott and Arthur on a long tour for the harbor working my way up the north side of Lido Island and let them check out some eye candy and a look at the life of the rich and famous.
I stopped and we fished a new spot never before explored on my boat and fishyboy got onto a drag burner 16" Smelt.

We then worked a normally productive beach for nothing again and then returned to our starting point for Arthur to pick up a little but his first Spottie!!

After this we called it a day and headed back to the ramp!
I managed to nail a 6" Sandie and Spottie today!
Well the fishing was not the greatest today but we had some fun conversations on the boat and with others we met from Team 57.
Scott actually caught an 8th species of the day!! Scott was snagged on the bottom and when it came free there was sea life on the swim bait!
It turned out to be fisyboys joke of the day as he harassed Scott about it all day! I will let him tell you what it was.
Scott and Arthur, Thanks for a fun day on the water and now that we have that dreaded slow ( sure you guys catch all that out there trip) out of the way we will do it again in the future!
