Thanks.
I would like to Thank everyone for showing up to support Flathead Fever 1 and the West
Coast Cat Masters. I truly had a ball out there and enjoyed the fellowship thru fishing that we all had out on the water. This event was all about fishing and having a good time. Plus the fee for the event was something to be reasonable in todays economic struggle. Thanks go out to Devin for being my right hand man in this event. We all know how hard it is to organize and run an event by yourself. Having someone you can depend on is truly an asset when it comes to organizing and holding an event. I would like to thanks all of the sponsors for the event :
Team 760 - Thank you Todd for your help in getting products. I am proud to be a member of Team760 and look forward to more tournaments we can run in the future.
Catmando - We been boys for way over a decade now, thanks for your constant support for my events overs the last 7 years.
G3 - Thanks goes out to G3 and the G3 catfish team members which I am proud to be a member of to represent the west coast.
Magic bait - Thanks goes out to Magic bait for their sponsorhip with the products they made available for the last few years.
Katjuice - Thanks goes out to katjuice for dedicating some of their potent katjuice.
Eagle Claw - Thanks goes out to Eagle claw for dedicating some of their hooks and products.
Everyone that showed up received a package to take home with them. This is what I sat out to do with my events is enjoying a day out on the water, plus giving away prizes to each person even if you did not place in the event. I also would like to thank my right hand man Deandre - Trueblue - for his help and dedication to the events over the last few years. Always good fishing with ya. Thanks goes out to Papa Willie for his help with the event. Thanks also goes out to Earl and the Moreno Valley Crew as well as the San Bernardino Crew. Thanks goes out to Full Stringer as well for being at all of the events the last 3 years for the river.
Nice to meet ya OnDaHunt4fish. Look forward to seeing ya at more events and even some just plan ole fishing trips out on the water. Thanks also to Ryan for his dedication to the events the last few years.
Also thanks to Olefrog. Nice to see you show up and support the event.
If there is anyone I left out forgive me. I was overjoyed by your support and definitely appreciate you and your support.
Anglers were allowed to fish the canal or the main river for this event as I like the option of both to accomadate shore anglers and boat anglers alike. Plus this is what helps makes the events fun. Drain ditches, irragation canal, canal or main river was all good to go. Unless otherwise specified, this is the route that I normally go unless it is a King Kat qualifying event which is team based and boat only.
Fishing - Now as far as the fishing is concerned, it was tough. But tough is what make tournaments interesting and competitive out on the water. Yours truly was skunked. That right, skunked. LOl. I bounced around to many different holes but just was not to happen. I had a few runs that came unbuttoned but that was it. Earl and the Mo Val crew put the spanking on the channels with stink bait for day one. Same thing for day two but not enough to win first place channel during the actual event. Day one they got a 9 pounder. Deandre and Chauncey got into some smaller grade flats and channels. Plus Papa Willie as well got into the channel mix good enough for us to have a fish fry the first night. But the true story goes out to the La Mesa Boys - Larry, Morgan, Kurt, and Eric Williams of San Diego. They put the spanking on the good flats and did great just like last year. They have a secret hole along the canal that is consistant and definitely produces for them. Great job guys!
There was also a few hardaches for the trip as Ryan 20 pounder broke his stringer. This has happened to me before too so I know the feeling. However he did have a good flat at 10 pounds just short of the 3rd place finish. Deandre had a massive flat that wrap into the tree's. This very same thing happened to me 4 times last year. They tried to get it even by hopping in like I did last year but it came unbuttoned. But its stories like this that keeps us coming back. This is what makes fshing what it is as we can not win em all, but we will definitely win some of it all.
Otherwise I had a great time. I could write a thesis for this event but will bring it short. I look forward to everyone and many more for the future river events. Stay tuned for Flatmasters 3 June, 20th (Blythe, Mayflower) and Canal Expeditions 2 ( Palo Verde) for August(date to be announced soon). Here are a few of the pictures that I have. Many more pictures will follow later. A you tube Vid will follow later tonite after I get some more pics in. I also have the winners announcement and give away live feeds to show as well. Will do that soon, Im tired. LOL Thanks for viewing everyone and I will leave you with the winners list.
