I launched from the east ramp and headed to the obsevatory in the morn. and got a trout within mins. on a worm and flasher at 3 ft. deep on my dwnrigger and a couple of bites that I missed and off I went trolling around down to Metcalf bay area , saw lots of fish everywhere at 13-23 ft. but no takers . I made my way back up to the east end and it was a little past noon and I started to troll a silver phobe lure and hooked up in the same area as the morn. fish so I just did passes all around the area until about 1:30 and then it just busted wide open , I could barley keep up with two rods as it was WIDE OPEN bite at 5 ft. on a silver phobe . I ran into a freind a DVL trout guide and he was in the same area with clients and did very well on lead line at 15-20 ft. [ 3-4 colors ] on a needlefish . the water temp. is still a little cool at 49-50 deg. , air temp. at 63 in the noontime . caught a bunch but just kept a limit and realeased some for another day , afternoon bite for sure . [ I let out like 100 ft. of line and then dropped to 5 ft. with my dwnrigr. with lure ] Wind blowing from the EAST all day , not alot of action for alot of boats but its getting ready to get really good at BIG BEAR LK. // db http://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt74/db_bucket_photos/IMG_0822.jpg

Ah Steve, slaying them....
Nice outgoing. I see you too like to use one my go-to favorite dodger I like to use. The mini-colorado bladed charteuse seps flashers are GTG too... Hope to pass each other some time in the troll lanes , take care...

Nice Trout! Hey...it looks like someone is trolling a spinning rod with a baitcasting reel. Be careful, I've seen them snap when a fish struck. It has something to do with the natural bend/curve of the rod's graphite fibers.
