Well I can officially say that I now live in Independance and start my internship at Manzanar tomorrow. I just moved in on Saturday to the volunteer house and it is quite small and comfortable. Here are a few pics:

So I moved stuff in on Saturday and met my boss, Ralph. He informed me that they would be taking me fishing the following morning along with others who work at the Park. Fun!!! Sooo...after a long day of moving all my stuff into Independance I got up early the next morning.
Ralph came and picked me up from my place at 6am, and he brought his son Conner. We went fishing at this place called the Sandtrap where they had a trout fishing derby the other day for father's day. Once again another secret spot that locales know about.
Anyways, I met Troy and Tom there so there were 5 of us. Tom is the superintendent at Manzanar and Troy works there. Sooo....we spent 2 hrs fishing there and it was so windy I was eating the dirt. Troy caught one 6 inch rainbow and that was it for us.

Then Ralph deicded to take us to Billy's pond. Fun little pond I have fished at before. Once again we didn't catch anything. It was just way tooo windy!!

Sadly that ended my fishing with them. I went back to my place and passed out for a few hrs! hahah! Afterwards I went and chatted it up with some friends at Manzanar I haven't seen in awhile so that I could get myself acquainted to living here. Independance is tiny but there are tons of creeks or ponds to fish at that are almost just a block away from me
Sooo....later in the day I tried fishing at Sheperd Creek. I really think the fish were enjoying themselves here! I fished from 3:30pm-6pm. I still didn't catch a single fish! I found this really odd since I have rarely been skunked in the Sierras...haha. I tried dough bait, gulp eggs, craws, jigs and power worms. I really do think these trout wanted bugs...so another words....go buy dry flies! (I think I need to try myself some fly fishing). The fish were jumping over my pole...around the creek...and everywhere. I found this rather amusing since everytime I got my line tangled they would come up and jump right by me. What I really wanted to do was go get a knife, get in the water and do me some hunting...haha! Anyways, needless to say....no fishes caught today!

I love living up here, and I still got another 6 months to go. Be ready for more fishing reports from me frequently. lol
