Just got an email from Sport Chalet that says "Trout season is almost here. Stop in before you head out."
Then they show their "Trout Season Opener Specials".
Talk about being late... lol

Oh yeah you're right. At the top of the email in small type it says...
Eastern Sierra Trout Season Opens April 25. Get your Fishing License and Gear at Sport Chalet.
My bad...

yeah, they're late for triploid season maybe, not for trout with normal life stories.

unfortunately my experience is only with stocked trout, except for once on a mountain hike.

lots of sierra trout are stocked too, but i know what you mean. around here its a winter thing b/c the lakes and streams get too hot for the trout to survive the summers, unless they can go deep, which is what the holdovers do. get out there and see some fish with tails. some of the little natives (brownies especially) are some of the prettiest fish you'll ever see.
