Hey everybody, I'm gonna be at the Colorado river around Laughlin this weekend and was wondering what fish are around that area, ideas of how to catch them, and where I should be fishing.

Thanks

I don't know what it's like right now but there is trout and stripper fishing there as well. There are lots of areas to fish on the river as well as Davis Damn but make sure you have the right license. A Cali license does you no good if you are fishing the areas around the hotels since it is either Nevada or Arizona but licenses are easy to get. Just go to the main drag on the Arizona side and you will find Big 5, Wal mart, Kmart that all sell licenses for both states.

And the carp are there in FORCE. You will see them at the hotel docks although you are not allowed to fish there generally. I was staying at Harrah's about 10 floors up and I could see them from my room. I've also heard that the free launch ramp/dock at the Riverside Hotel (Last hotel on the laughlin strip before heading over to Arizona) is a good place for trout although I didn't have any luck there.

Good luck Kev and report back on how you do!!

I fish by the Bridge near the riverside and catch Stripers every year. 12" Leader and a nice chunk of anchovy, a 1/2oz Egg sinker and you are ready!

The river is stocked below Davis Dam with trout every friday, by the boat launch at the Riverside Casino, fish hide near the fishing dock. They also stock near Davis camp on the AZ side of the river near the fishing docks.

For Striper try Lake Mojave with anchovies. I will be on the attack this weekend should be DD weekend.
