My buddies wanted to fish the sea once more before it got too hot. I told them "it's a go", after I talked to buddy who fished it last week. We brought along a friend who hasn't fished since he was 10 years old. Left the house at 10:30 am and arrived 2 hours later. We stopped at Mecca for supplies as always.

The point is always taken, I wonder why? Can it be the hot spot?

They were some fishermen on the other side of us.

My friends had plenty of elbow room to fish.

As the day progress more people came to fish.

After an hour in, there was a crowd.

My buddy with one of his many doubles for the day.

Keep a few of the larger ones for tacos.

Left for home as the sun was setting.
Fishing was good today. It was nonstop action, from very first cast to the very last cast for us today. All of the fish were caught with night crawlers. If you guys want them, now is the time to go. Thanks for reading and good luck on your next fishing adventure, Pokerface.

I've been thinking about heading down to the Salton to try it out. Where is the location you were fishing at? Straight down from Mecca?

Nice, and "wow." You're gonna eat those? Umm...Ewww? I thought that place was the final drainage point for all of the Coachella and American river runnoff? Lots of nitrates, sewage, and fecal bacteria produced around there. I'd be careful of how much tilapia I actually consume from that area if I were you. Of course, just a suggestion, he he. Nice slayage though.

It's the New River that literally dumps into the Salton Sea, if you have ever seen that river in person you would not eat anything from there again..

The New River’s flow is composed of waste from agricultural and chemical runoff from the farm industry irrigation in the U.S. (18.4%) and Mexico (51.2%), sewage from Mexicali (29%), and manufacturing plants operating in Mexico (1.4%). By the time the New River crosses the U.S./Mexico border near Calexico, California, the channel contains a stew of about 100 contaminants: volatile organic compounds, heavy metals (including selenium, uranium, arsenic and mercury), and pesticides (including DDT) and PCBs. The waterway also holds the pathogens that cause tuberculosis, encephalitis, polio, cholera, hepatitis and typhoid; levels for many of these contaminants are in violation of United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Cal/EPA standards by several hundredfold.[2] Fecal coliform bacteria are at levels of 100,000 to 16 million colonies per milliliter at the border checkpoint (possibly more, as this is the measuring capacity threshold), far above the U.S.-Mexico treaty limit of 240 colonies.[3][4]

Thanks for the report Pokerface12. Some of the people on this board need to go out and fish! Sadly I am one of them. LOL

Why would you say that dude? You biased or something? These people drove a long time to get there and you take the "high" road. I think you aren't open to other peoples fishing habits and expose yourself as being "passive aggressive" by dissing on these people. Shame on you, bully.......

Who's dissing? Am I missing something? All I see are people giving a few suggestions. So, I take it that if you drive for a few hours to fish somewhere, you have to bring fish home? Even if they're a little polluted? Come on give me a break...

dunno about you guys, but....

it sure looks like a lot of fun catching those tilapia ...

i might go there to check out the action this week...

haven't fish the sea in 9 years... feb/mar 2000 was the last time, that is when I was catching those big 15 to 30 lb orangemouth corvina's on mudsuckers...

maybe they would start biting again...
