Afternoon Spottie Action in NPH 4/11

Got to the harbor around 4:30pm and started fishing near Bay Island. Had a few short bites, but no fish. Damn that place smelled like sewage, so I decided to head to the usual spot as the tide was rising.

Started off with this Micro Spottie:

A few minutes later I have a major bendo. It takes me for a ride around a piling and breaks me off. :Angry: I was pissed!! Later I meet up with Hesbros and I catch my second fish of the day..

I was upset about the lost fish and all the missed hookups throughout the night, but this guy made up for everything..

BOOOYAAH! My biggest spottie! This beast put up an awesome fight. Special thanks to Hesbros for the photo and helping me land the fish.

That was all for the night. Just 3 fish, 1 lost, and some missed bites. Hesbros ended up with 2 nice spotties before we split up. I'm sure he gave it a few more casts on his way back. :Wink:

Great job on that dropshot piggie! That must have been fun. Dropshotting at night puts you in a trance like zone and when you get nailed by a pig like that it can almost give you heart failure....LOL

Thanks everyone for all the comments! I didn't realize how big that spottie was until I started reading all the responses. I guess it didn't look as big at night with the limited lighting. Here's another picture of the fatty next to my foot for size comparison.

LOL! Not quite. I'm still learning something new everytime I go out. That's one of the reasons why me and Tesserz have been hitting NPH so often. We've been experimenting with lure color, tides, hooks, technique, etc. Everyone here on the board has been a HUGE help in taking the guesswork out of fishing the harbor.

Thanks! Yeah I'm glad I was able to share the glory with Hesbros. Fishing there at night is very calming and relaxing especially when the wind has died down and the water is like glass. Sometimes I tell myself "Are there really any fish out here?" and then WHAM!! FISH ON!! :Razz:

Well it was to bad that you 2 were not down there on Easter Sunday as my son Brad flaked and we were expecting a call from Eddie to pick him up but he was nowhere to be found poaching my harbor.

So while we were looking for Eddie and Poaching your Spots / I mean working our usual spots we did not find any one with their thumbs up looking to hitch a ride!

whatever hit my drop shot berkley gulp minnow... which were mainly short halis. I've only fished pier though, and the jetty once. I love the LMB fishing too much to make time for the salts.

LOL! Yeah Tesserz may have caught the biggest hali, but my spottie is going to be a tough one for her to beat. :Smile:

Me and Tesserz actually made it out there on Easter very late in the afternoon. Only managed one spottie and a few missed bites. Tesserz was able to hook up, but the fish shook off. It was the first time that had ever happened to her and boy was she mad. She was ready to break her rod in half and you could almost see the steam coming out her ears. :ROFL:

I'm sure if we saw you guys out there with some room on the boat, we would've used one of those private docks as a runway and come flying into join you guys. LOL! I'm sure we'll see you guys cruising by soon. Til then I'll keep my eye out for the Team 57 boat. :Wink:
