Well, I got to fish with Art Hill today at Vail Lake (first fishing trip of the year). We were first on the lake and headed straight to a cove that was packed full of shad. The surface of the water was breaking with shad and bass boilers (wow what a rush!) We threw these little spinner baits and were on instantly. The shad was so thick that if we didn't hook up with a fish, we would inadvertantly snag a shad an the retrieve. The fishing was epic! Obviously the trick was to "match the hatch" they wouldn't touch it if it didn't look like a shad. Believe it or not we caught more than 150 bass on this 8hr trip with my top five going 25-30 lbs. (biggest was 6.9, plus a half dozen 4s and 5s and many 2s and 3s) I also got 2 catfish as a kicker on the day. Check out the pix.

All I can say is, if you ever decide to spend the bones for a guided trip, you MUST call Art Hill. Call a buddy and go in halfs, you wont regret it. He knows the lake and will put you on fish.

Hi Rod,

Yeah the secret is out. It's hard to keep a secret now a days. The bite is epic right now. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. We were off the water by 1:30 yesterday, and I hate to think of what kind of numbers we would have had with another 3 or 4 hours of fishing. The afternoon bite is even better than the early bite.

We had 6 fish over 5 pounds the last 45 minutes we fished. My last two cast produced fish of almost 6,and a 5.5. At that point, I put my rod down and just played netboy for Joe. That was a full time job anyway.

I forgot to mention that every time I go with Art I learn something new about Bass fishing, he is an awesome teacher and is eager to share. So when you see a spot open up like the one he posted.... jump on it.

oh, I see someone has. You wont be disappointed
