never caught a cat on plastic though, freaked me out, I thought I had the Lake record Bass.

I know you did! Every once in a while I get one on a jig. I got one on a spinnerbait at San Antonio Lake and another one on a topwater lure at Puddingstone! Channel Catfish, Blues, and Flatheads are all predators and do chase down and eat other fish, so getting them on artificials is not that uncommon.
